The biggest wedding of our time is on tomorrow and everybody is busy trying to figure out what flowers Kate Middleton will be carrying. I asked our fans of Facebook and Twitter what flowers they think Kate will carry and the answers we received included Roses, Orchids, Gardenias, Stephanotis, Freesia, Lilly of the valley, Odontoglossum Orchids, Tradescantia, Veronica and a Sprig of Myrtle. All of the stated flowers are a possibility, some however are more probable than others.

To get an idea of traditional flowers in Royal weddings we should look back at previous Royal marriages. Starting with Lady Diana and Prince Charles;  Lady Diana had a 42”long and a 15” wide floral arrangement that was typical in Edwardian times. The bouquet consisted of Ardenias, Stephanotis, Freesia, Odontoglossum Orchid, Lily of the Valley, Earl Mountbatten Roses, Hedera (Ivy), Tradescantia, Myrtle and Veronica (Hebe). It is also worth noting that it is tradition in royal weddings to carry a Sprig of Myrtle from the bush grown by Queen Victoria.

In the marriage of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Sarah carried a bouquet which consisted of Lily of the Valley, Yellow Roses and Sprig of Myrtle. Many Royal weddings contain flowers from Queen Victoria’s garden in the Isle of White.

After noting the flowers involved with these two Royal weddings I believe Kate will carry a bouquet consisting of Sprig of Myrtle (as is tradition), pale coloured Roses (as a tribute to Prince Williams Mother; Lady Diana), she may opt of Hydrangeas as they are soft and elegant and some Lily of the Valley.  Kate appears to respect the tradition involved with royal wedding and thus will keep the traditional Royal wedding flowers but I believe she will incorporate a modern twist into her traditional bouquet.

It’s been a crazy summer so far and I don’t mean the weather. We have been completely booked out every week with Wedding Flowers. It’s been amazing. Not only that but we have Brides coming in for consultations every single day at the moment booking their weddings which has been great.

 To add to the Wedding Chaos I (Eamonn) got married 3 weeks ago which was obviously the best day of my life. The new Mr and Mrs Grant are keeping very well and enjoying married life.
